Final Task Production: Filming

Hi media fans!! I am back and here with updates about my groups progress for our final task video. Just for a quick recap; our pitch is two friends trying to prank their friend which ends horribly and the genre is of course, horror. I can't wait any longer to share our progress so let's begin!

We first began with choosing dates and times to film, working around each of our own schedules. After discussing for some time we decided that we can mostly film on days that we do not have practice and on weekends. Since our script for our video is set in the dark, we agreed to film when it is dark outside to ensure the scary effect our film is going to create.

For our first day of filming we went to Marissa's house to map out where Kylee and Marissa would be standing, walking, and talking. For our opening scenes, the setting is outside as they ae coming up with plan for the prank. They then practiced movement and going over the script so our video would have a natural flow, encapsulating normal teenage girls. The first few times we tried to film these scenes definitely ended in a lot of laughing and yelling at each other to be serious but after a few more tries we got the opening scenes down.

As the cameraperson I made sure to track the movements, like walking, of Marissa and Kylee so the camera would smoothly follow after them. I also ensured that the camera was as clear and still as possible even though it was a little difficult to get the camera to focus on only Marissa and Kylee. Another task I made sure I took into consideration is recording them from different angles where we used Marissa's mom to capture side angles while I recorded from the front. Although these angles may not make it throughout the editing process, I still wanted to shoot those angles just for effect. Finally, I tried my best to get the camera to not have much of a glare from the streetlights.

We then moved back inside after filming the opening scenes to record Marissa and Kylee speaking to our actor for ghost face, which we decided will be Marissa's brother. These scenes were silent so Marissa was saying whatever she wanted to since the sound will be removed and replaced with sound effects and music in the editing process.

Once that scene was finished, we recorded Marissa handing her brother a Ghost face mask and a fake costume knife, which will be important in the dramatic scenes that are later to come, ;) and then recorded a close up of him putting the mask on.

That's all I can share for our first day of filming so make sure you stay tuned for my next blog where our filming process will be completely finished! I can't believe how fast this process is coming together already! Thanks for listening, see ya next time, Hailey out!
